Market 501: SS 381151 at Fantasy Junction “POA”

Giulia Sprint Speciale 10121*381151, 00121*01052.  Fantasy Junction, a respectable local to me seller of high end sports cars has this SS listed in their inventory, price: POA.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen them use this pricing convention – maybe it has something to do with last weekends rigmarole in Monterey and they didn’t want to be caught out if pricing moved in leaps due to an auction result.  I didn’t make it to Monterey – opting rather to hang out with my dad.  Any big Giulietta sales go down?

That is a great color on an SS.  So tempted to make an unflattering comment about Toyota dark metallic gray – better let it go though.  This car sits well, everything is where it belongs, and I am excited to go check it out in person – maybe they will let me test drive – who knows.  Anyone have POA I can borrow?

Market 490: RHD SS 381030 coming to Silverstone Auctions

Giulia Sprint Speciale 10121*381030, 00121*00578.  This rare RHD SS will be auctioned by Silverstone on February 22nd.  It’s a clean example if the pictures tell the truth.  I’m not sure why they are calling a mid-64 built car a 1967, but can speculate that it might have taken some time to go from Bertone to the RHD conversion folks and then to a dealer.  3 years?  I suppose it could have been a late 64 car sold in early 67.  Anyhow.
I like a good picture.  This is the view you get when you look up mid stoop after you drop your keys on a wet morning while approaching it to go motoring.  Description says it saw a bare metal respray recently.

Market 478: Unknown Giulietta SS in England

Giulietta Sprint Speciale 10120.  This car is currently on eBay out of the UK.  It looks like a very clean well cared for example.  No price is given, but you can bet that the price of good SS’s in the US has not escaped their notice.  The stance of the car is aggressive, suiting the shape of the body.  I like it!  If anyone catches the vin, please let me know.

You know I like a good picture!  This has the small corner markers that I think are indicative of an originally US bound car.  Nicely presented.

Market 466: Shin’s SS 380596 for sale in California

Giulia SS 10121*380596.  This car is available right now from Shin Yoshikawa -a name you may recognize if you have or have seen one of those cool cut-away type illustrations of Alfa’s -I think I have one of his TZ2 posters.  This SS is a time-warp of a sort -having some detailing that most SS owners today would change -like the hot-roddy red and white interior.  Asking price is a reasonable seeming $100,000 -hard to say that considering the best ones were $40,000 when I started this blog.

Looks nice. -especially hanging out with it’s older brother -a 10120.  Is that wind deflector red? Continue reading

Market 461: SS 10120 00209 ran out of steam

Update 4/20/13:  Seems reasonable, but reserve not met.

Giulietta Sprint Speciale 10120*00209.  Beverly Hills Car Club, purveyors of many a busted up Alfa has this SS listed on eBay.  It appears to have been shut down a month or two into a in earnest restoration.  A lot of the bits are bolted on -out of convenience probably, and it looks like quality work was done on the body.  Anyone know this car?  As far as I can tell it’s a new addition to my lists.

Cute 105 era marker light.  Wheels are probably the Heinbrand replicas.  Headlight rings don’t look like SS items to me -Fiat 124 Spider perhaps?  Door fit is questionable. Continue reading

Market 460: Giulia SS 10121 380136. Worst yet?

Update 4/20/13:  15 bids.  $3326.  Wow.

Screen Shot 2013-04-20 at 12.14.55 PM

Giulia Sprint Speciale 10121*380136. Richard over at ClassicAlfa (whose products I use quite frequently) sent me a link to this auction.  The British Isles are detrimental to old cars if they are not ‘kept up’ and this one appears to have supported a blackberry hedge for a few decades before being picked up so it could be picked over for parts.

999 out of 1000 of you look at this and assume it’s hopeless, and one of you thinks… I can get a $3000 Spider body as underbody donor, buy all Biondi’s applicable repair panels and have someone who knows their way around rust repair who has an English Wheel glue it all together then make some exterior panels.  Where are you then?  $30,000?  I know, I know -but I mean really, if $130,000 is the going rate for good but not necessarily great ones, this is potentially doable in a profitable way -especially if you have contacts in places where skilled labor is affordable.   $T2eC16hHJIQE9qUHu0NkBRTIRmPRtQ~~60_32

I know of a similar one I can buy for less than $8000 that includes suspension, seats, etc, but is, like this, very very rusty. Continue reading

Market 459: Pretty Giulia SS in Florida

Giulia SS. This car is available out of Florida for $145,000 from Kirk F. White. If the engine is original there may be some meat on the bone for someone to buy and send this to auction -Giulia SS’s are bringing strong money at auction after all, and this one has one of the best color combo’s.  Of course it could go to a loving new home, but that never seems to be the case.  Anyone know the vin of this car?

Kirk White Cars

Close to black blue in this one.  This photo set is a study in how much pictures can lie.  Great looking car, as I’ll continue to say.
