Market 482: Veloce-ized Spider 10123 379454 survivor

Giulia Spider 10123*379454This car ended recently on eBay out of Washington state and almost perfectly represents the value of a car a friend of mine was asking me to give a valuation of.  A well maintained, scruffy but attractive -well, except those seats- car that functions as intended and needs nothing for use, but needs a lot to be a nice car.  I guessed $20,000 – $30,000, probably a little higher than $25,000 if sold on eBay.

The proof for all you who visit after the link to eBay dies.

The engine looks good, but that’s the easy part.  Nicely done adaptation of GTV intake etc.

Trunk lid fits great.  Bumper, trim and tail lights look very nice.

Not an unattractive car.  Door and hood both fit well.  Rockers are blacked out so despite sellers ‘rust free’ claims, you might want to go inspect them before you buy -that said my rust free Sprint has blacked out rockers -maybe it was all the rage in the 80’s.

Scruffy.  Interior work is not hard -it’s actually a check writing exercise for most people!

  1. I think “scruffy” is too harsh. It has the hub caps and front overriders, and looks quite complete. The floorboards look intact but have to be seen to very soon–same for the trunk. Of course, we don’t know what the black stuff on the sills hides but the one jack point visible doesn’t look bad. The dash covering isn’t properly installed, the seats should be redone, probably the earlier body repair redone. The “1600” is missing from the trunk lid, which means there was probably damage there in the past, which might also have to be redone.

About $1K for upholstery, $3-5K for bodywork (and mats), and a paint job, and it would be a fine-looking car.

But of course then you’d still have a lowered, wide-tired, non-Giulia.
